Week 2: Tiny eyes opening and new adventures

The Adorable 8 are 2 weeks old!
Our spoodle puppies are beginning to open their eyes, discover new sounds, and grow stronger each day. Follow their journey as we guide them through these early stages of development with care and love.

INTERESTING FACT
At 2 weeks of age, puppies sleep around 22 hours per day. Even at 8 weeks, they still need about 18 hours daily (though not all at once!).
Week 2
Week 2 Highlights
Growing up fast: This is a period of rapid physical and sensory development. Each puppy has now doubled their birth weight and currently weighs between 500–600 grams.
Moving house: Mum and the puppies have now left the nursery (a quiet room near our bedroom) and moved into the “Puppy Taj Mahal.” This provides Mum with more space and gently introduces the puppies to new sights and sounds.
Coming to their senses: At 2 weeks old, eyes begin to open (sometimes one at a time!). Vision is fuzzy at first but improves quickly. Their hearing is also developing — they move from sensing only vibrations to recognising sounds clearly by around 2½ to 3 weeks of age.
First treatments: Week 2 marks the start of their deworming schedule (at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks).
Warmth and comfort: The whelping box temperature is now lowered slightly, sitting at around 26°C.
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS): ENS exercises continue until day 16, after which we focus on daily gentle handling to ensure every interaction is calm, positive, and confidence-building.

Common Questions
What generation are these puppies?
These puppies are First Generation Backcross (F1b). Mum is a first-generation Spoodle, and Dad is a Mini Poodle.
How much are the puppies?
Our puppies are $3,300. They come vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, and with initial heartworm protection. Each puppy also goes home with detailed care sheets, a $50 desexing voucher, 4 weeks of free pet insurance (covering accident and illness), food samples, and a few extras to help them settle into their new home.
When are they available?
The puppies will be advertised for sale when they reach 6 weeks of age. Until then, they’re focused on growing, learning, and preparing for their forever homes.
