The Adorable 8 are 4 weeks old!
Our spoodle puppies have reached an exciting milestone — they now have teeth, are tasting solid food for the first time, and are starting to stay awake longer to play, explore, and even bark. This week the puppies ventured out of their whelping box, beginning to explore new surroundings. Their personalities are beginning to shine as we guide them through these fun early stages.

Week 4

Week 4 Highlights
Growing up fast: The adorable 8 have changed so much this week. They now weigh between 1–1.5 kgs, and over the next fortnight we expect them to gain even more with the introduction of solid food.
The first taste: This week we began the weaning process by introducing the puppies to solid food. As you can imagine, it was a very messy but exciting milestone! The process happens gradually over the next few weeks. (More about what we feed in next week’s update.)
Tiny teeth: The puppies’ baby teeth have started to come through. By the time they leave us, they’ll have all 28 baby teeth — which will eventually be replaced by 42 adult teeth. Just like babies, teething means lots of chewing, so having plenty of safe chew toys is essential!
Sights & sounds: We’ve continued introducing the puppies to new and unfamiliar noises. Exposing them to a wide range of sounds in a positive environment helps build resilience and confidence, making them less reactive to noise as adults.
Daily handling: We continued our 10 gentle daily handling exercises, applying slightly more pressure as the puppies grow stronger. Each day they are becoming more responsive and confident, and these moments are some of our favourites with the litter. The exercises help prepare them for everyday handling with their new families and teach them how to manage stress and anxiety during activities such as grooming and vet visits. We gently rub their ears, cover their eyes, open their mouths, rub their tummies, run our hands over their bodies, and touch their feet, noses, and nails — all designed to build calm, resilient, and well-adjusted companions.
INTERESTING FACT
Dogs can detect changes in body odour linked to medical conditions such as low blood sugar in diabetics and impending seizures in epileptics. Specially trained dogs can even alert their owners before these events occur.
