How we raise our puppies

At Macedon Ranges Spoodles, our puppies are raised with love, care, and socialisation. To give families an insight into how we raise our puppies, we have shared a series of newsletters from a past litter, documenting their journey from birth to the day they went home. These updates are here to show you the care, nurturing, and preparation that all of our puppies receive before joining their forever families.

Week 1: New Beginnings

Meet our "Adorable 8" spoodle puppies, they are now one week old! In this first stage, mum focuses on feeding and bonding while we provide round-the-clock care. Puppies are weighed daily, kept warm in their whelping box, and introduced to Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) for healthy development.

Week 2: Tiny eyes opening and new adventures

At 2 weeks old, the Adorable Eight are opening their eyes, developing hearing, and doubling their birth weight. Mum and pups have moved into the spacious Puppy Taj Mahal, and early neurological stimulation continues. Worming, weight checks, and gentle handling ensure every pup is thriving.

Week 3: Growing stronger and exploring the world

The Adorable 8 are now 3 weeks old! They’re gaining confidence, moving around more, and beginning to play. Each puppy weighs around 1kg — three times their birth weight! We’ve introduced new sounds and daily handling exercises to prepare them for future grooming and vet visits. Follow along as we nurture them through every stage of development.

Week 4: First tastes, tiny teeth & playful barks

At 4 weeks old, the Adorable 8 are growing quickly and showing big changes! With baby teeth coming in, their first taste of solid food, and playful barks, life outside the whelping box has begun. The puppies are more curious, staying awake longer, and engaging in play. This stage is all about discovery, messy meals, and learning through new sights, sounds, and daily gentle handling.

Week 5: Learning, exploring and loving mealtimes

At 5 weeks old, the Adorable 8 are playful, curious, and learning fast! They’ve started eating Vets All-Natural complete mix with raw meat, wagging their tails, and playing together to learn social skills. Exposure to new objects, textures, and sounds helps build confidence, while daily handling prepares them for grooming and vet visits. Next week, we’ll introduce the doggy door!

Week 6: Meet the Adorable 8 – now available for their forever homes

At 6 weeks old, the Adorable 8 are full of energy and personality! Each puppy has their own unique traits, from playful and adventurous to snuggly and gentle. This is the stage when families can register their interest, nominate a favourite puppy, and prepare for the next step. Our puppies come vaccinated, microchipped, and with Trupanion insurance to ensure the very best start in life.

Week 7: Growing confidence and first adventures

The Adorable 8 are 7 weeks old and full of energy! They’ve been exploring toys, learning to use the doggy door, and enjoying more solid food. This week also included their first vaccination, vet check, and microchipping — each puppy receiving a clean bill of health. With daily handling and sound training continuing, they’re becoming confident, resilient, and ready to meet their forever families soon.

Week 8: Saying goodbye to the Adorable 8

The Adorable Eight are 8 weeks old and ready for their forever homes! Over the past two months, we’ve loved watching them grow, play, and learn. Each puppy leaves with a care pack, insurance, and our support to give them the best start in life.
