The Adorable 8 are 7 weeks old!

Our spoodle puppies are full of energy, curiosity, and playfulness. This week, they’ve been exploring new textures, toys, and even mastered the doggy door. Follow their journey as we guide them through this exciting stage with care and love.

INTERESTING FACT

Tired puppies get cranky just like little kids. Puppies need about 18–20 hours of sleep every day. At 8 weeks old, you can expect a puppy to be awake only an hour or two at a time before they are ready for another nap.

Week 7

Eight spoodle puppies at 7 weeks old, each with a coloured collar: Mr Red, Mr Yellow, Mr Black, Mr Green, Mr Orange, Mr Blue, Mr Purple, and Miss Pink, all sitting on a blue star blanket.

Week 7 Highlights

It has been another busy week for our adorable 8!

They have been busy playing and eating, and Mum has started taking a step back as they transition to eating mostly solid food. We have introduced lots of toys and things for them to explore, like different textures and places to climb and run through.

They have all learned to use the doggy door to go to the bathroom, which is great progress. Watching them is always so entertaining!

Vaccinations and Vet checks: The adorable 8 had their initial vaccination, veterinary examination, and microchipping this week.

  • The vaccination serves as the first defence against Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvovirus.

  • A follow-up vaccine will be required between 10–12 weeks, with a potential third at 16 weeks.

  • During the veterinary check, our vet conducted a musculoskeletal and neurological exam, and checked the heart rate and temperature of each puppy.

  • Each puppy also received a certificate of health.

Sights & sounds: This week we exposed the puppies to even more unfamiliar noises using the Soundproof Puppy Training app. From fireworks and thunderstorms to power tools, sounds are played at very low volume while the puppies are relaxed, such as during mealtime.

Over the coming weeks, the volume is gradually increased. The process is so gentle that the puppies barely notice, but they grow accustomed to a wide range of noises with confidence.

Daily handling: We continue with the 10 gentle daily handling exercises until the puppies leave us at 8 weeks of age. Each week we use slightly more pressure, and the puppies become more responsive and confident.

These exercises help puppies learn to manage stress and anxiety during activities such as grooming and vet visits. We gently rub their ears, cover their eyes, open their mouth, rub their tummy, rub over their body, and touch their feet, noses and nails.

INTERESTING FACT

Adult dogs still need up to 16 hours of sleep each day. Sleep helps with brain development, memory, and learning capacity, as well as strengthening the immune system.

Common Questions

What generation are these puppies?

These puppies are First Generation Backcross (F1b). Mum is a first-generation Spoodle, and Dad is a Mini Poodle.

How much are the puppies?

Our puppies are $3,300. They come vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, and with initial heartworm protection. Each puppy also goes home with detailed care sheets, a $50 desexing voucher, 4 weeks of free pet insurance (covering accident and illness), food samples, and a few extras to help them settle into their new home.

When will the puppies be available for sale?

By Week 7, puppies are generally reserved quickly once made available, and families are invited to visit and spend time with their chosen puppy. Meeting new owners is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, as it sets the stage for a smooth and happy transition.

When will we have more puppies available?

All going well, we are expecting more litters in the near future. Updates will be shared through our newsletter and social media pages.

Next week the puppies will be ready to leave for their forever homes.
